On the way back from the school, Vidya had us sing our National Anthem. partly because we are performing it this Friday in a school, and partly because she wanted us to keep a sense of our culture and not get lost in the colors and experiences of the Indian lifestyle.
We then went to exchange money and Vidya bartered for us for certain items. it was pretty intense. I find myself amazed at the pure price of items that would skyrocket in the U.S.! A beautiful silk Indian bag costs around 200 rupees. that's just over $2. We are eating all our meals for approximately the same! Yet, gas here is about $7 per gallon!
Additionally, today I learned that the phrase नोट तू स्पीसी or, not too spicy please, is very important! I guess I still have many these to get used to here in India...
